Pottery Classes in Lyttelton

Pottery Classes at Ata Ceramics

Ata Ceramics is home to a community of skilled pottery teachers offering welcoming, term-based pottery courses for complete beginners through to experienced potters.
Our classes focus on learning the craft of pottery in a relaxed and supportive environment. With small class sizes and experienced teachers, you'll build skills over the course of a term while becoming part of a creative community.

Classes generally run alongside the New Zealand school terms and are around 10 weeks long.

Places are limited, so we recommend joining our mailing list to receive class information and registration details before each term opens. Registrations are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

Experience Levels
Beginners – No experience needed.
Intermediate – Suitable for students who have completed six or more terms at Ata Ceramics (or equivalent experience).
Mixed Ability – Open to beginners and returning students, with teaching tailored to support everyone at their own stage of learning.

“The best! La creme de la creme. I took a few pottery classes over the last years with different places but none of them equal the quality and amazingness I got from Ata Ceramics. I love this course so much, great teacher, super extensive and helpful content and the group energy is fantastic”

“Absolutely the coolest course with a great bunch of likeminded earth loving people all being creative in such a beautiful space. I found it a brilliant eye opener for the uninitiated and Sam was amazing at guiding and pointing everyone in the right direction and making it such an enjoyable experience. Definitely recommend it for anyone and everyone…I love Ata!”
